ABOUT

The Beauty Bean is the destination for real beauty, health and wellness. This freshly launched online women’s magazine and e-mail newsletter gives readers an intimate and expansive look at beauty, health and wellness without the focus on weight loss, dieting and the number on the scale. In place of such articles and familiar images of airbrushed celebrities and models, the magazine and its editorial staff focus on the latest products, research, and trends in beauty, fitness, and wellness to help the modern woman lead a healthier, happier and more beautiful life.

ABOUT ALEXIS

Alexis Wolfer is a women’s rights activist, entrepreneur, two-time author, and strategic marketing consultant. She is hell-bent on leaving the world a better, more beautiful place than she found it. Sometimes she does this via feminist rants and political projects, other times with eye cream.

Alexis started her career at an NGO in rural Tanzania, working with Maasai women widowed by HIV/AIDS, and has spent her entire career committed to empowering others. She has transformed the way media speak to and about women, as the founder of both the award-winning women’s lifestyle website TheBeautyBean.com and the social media-powered Makeup Free Mondays movement. She is also the author of The Recipe for Radiance: Discover Beauty’s Best-Kept Secrets in Your Kitchen (Running Press, April 2014) and Radiant Bride: The Beauty, Diet, Fitness, and Fashion Plan for Your Big Day (Running Press, January 2016). As a result of her influence and expertise, she has become a sought after on-air guest as seen on ABC, CBS, E!, Fox, NBC, The Today Show, and more.

Following her own entrepreneurial successes, Alexis now advises on and invests in early stage startups (including Porter + Sail, OurPlan, and Ideal Woman), helping them optimize customer acquisition, while aiding in product development, strategy, public relations, and marketing.

Alexis has remained steadfast in her commitment to progressive policies over the last 15-years, as a pro-choice advocate, a member of NYC’s Sexual Assault Response Team, and a leader in the wellness community. Most recently, she volunteered with and fundraised for Hillary For America, inspiring her vision for applying innovative start-up prowess to the ways in which campaigns are run and governing is executed.

Alexis graduated summa cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis and earned her Master’s Degree in Human Rights/Gender Studies from Columbia University. She lives mostly in airports.
