Whether you saw the 1982 original (or even like sci-fi thrillers), we’re heading to see The Thing  this weekend – and think you should too – if for no other reason than to support actress and Real Beauty Kim Bubbs. Trust us, this Canadian actress (soon to be seen in the upcoming Jack Kerouac movie, On the Road) may not be on your radar yet, but if her beauty, intelligence and charm are any indication (not to mention her talent!), she will be – soon!

So, we asked Kim Bubbs to weigh in on Real Beauty. Here’s what she had to say…

I think beauty is… whatever captivates you.

I feel most beautiful when… I’m smiling.

I deal with the pressure for body “perfection” by… making health my goal. Perfection isn’t interesting or even possible! A balanced, healthy lifestyle is what matters. Life was meant to be enjoyed with good meals, friends, exercise and lots of laughter.

The one lesson I try to remind myself of is to… live in the present moment.

I am currently excited about… life, possibility, opportunity.

My dreams for the future are… to do quality work, to grow as an artist, to contribute something of value to my community.

My pre-event routine consists of… finding talented professionals to help me with my hair (I’m hopelessly incapable of styling it) and makeup (I never put enough on).

My ideal spa day would include… a massage… or two!

On a budget? Here’s a massage you can afford!

My 3 cannot-live-without-them beauty products are… sunscreen, lip balm and eyeliner.

The women I most admire are… Jane Goodall, Audrey Hepburn, Oprah Winfrey, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. I admire smart, strong women who bravely pursue their goals and do their best to improve our world.

If I could give young women a piece of advice, it would be… find your own style. Nothing is more beautiful than a smart, confident woman who stands out from the crowd.

I wish more women would… see how truly unique and powerful they are.

I wish I could… travel by teleportation. It would save a lot of time!

I hate my… I work at trying not to hate anything. Nothing will sabotage your self-esteem and confidence more than negative self-talk.

My favorite body part of mine is my… eyes. They will always be the most expressive part of me.

If you have small eyes, here’s how to make them POP!
