Nadia Petrova is a world-class athlete, tennis star, role model and Real Beauty. Born in Moscow to undeniably athletic parents – her mother even won a bronze medal at the 1976 Montreal Olympics in the 400meter relay! – Nadia personifies the expression, “the apple doesn’t fall from the tree.” Nope, it falls close, but more softly and bigger! From a young age, Nadia traveled the world with her parents to sporting events where her athleticism was well nurtured. And now? Well, now Nadia travels the world on the WTA Tour, playing in professional tennis tournaments where she’s been ranked as high as number 3 in the world, has reached the quarterfinals of every Grand Slam and has won 28 WTA titles (9 singles, 19 doubles).
We sat down with Nadia Petrova to talk about Real Beauty…
What do you think makes someone beautiful?
It has to be a combination, inside and outside, and also being a generous, warm person. A very kind person.
How do you deal with being in the spotlight?
I feel it more in the United States and the biggest tournaments, which are Grand Slams. They attract a lot of people just for that sport so they recognize it more and more. But I like it since they’re fans and they’re here to see us.
If you could give your younger self advice about beauty, what would it be?
Enjoy every single day as if it is the last day.

What’s your one, can’t-live-without-it beauty product?
Anything MAC. Eyeshadow, lip gloss – I use everything!
Who is your beauty role model?
The older generation of European actresses. I used to watch them in movies and they were always very classic.
