Samantha Mumba is not just an insanely talented singer (not that that wouldn’t be enough, considering her first single, Gotta Tell You, was Number 1 on the Irish charts, Number 2 on the British charts and Number 4 on the US’s Billboard Hot 100). Rather, the Platinum-selling artist, whose first album sold over 4 million copies worldwide, is truly the definition of a triple-threat (J. Lo. style). Not that we weren’t sure of her external beauty when she was just an unbelievably gifted singer, but as the face for fashion designer Louise Kennedy, a Dior ambassador for the Dior Watch Collection, the face of Reebok in the UK and Ireland and the face (and body) of Ultimo Per Amore Lingerie, she further solidified herself as a world-class stunner.
Moreover, she is also an actress – oh, yeah, and she’s actually all about Real Beauty and promoting self confidence (The Beauty Bean style!), so maybe that actually makes her a quadruple threat.
So, we sat down with Samantha Mumba and asked her to weigh in on real beauty.
What do you think makes someone beautiful?
Honestly, I think natural is beautiful. Easier said than done, but when someone is genuinely comfortable in their own skin-there’s such a beautiful confidence that exudes from that. I don’t think we are all supposed to look the same, so I think it’s great to embrace what makes you unique.

How do you deal with the pressure for body perfection in our culture?
Well, I’ve come to the realization that I will never be a size zero!! Nor do I want to be. I try to be healthy and workout to have the best body shape that I can have just to feel good for myself. I don’t like to deprive myself of anything- all in moderation is good.
If you could give your younger self advice about beauty, what would it be?
Well, less is definitely more makeup wise lol. Not to be so hard on myself and to focus on the positives.

What’s your one, can’t-live-without-it beauty product?
Moisturizer. I am obsessed. In terms of a makeup product, my eyebrow pencil from MAC!
