Are you a yoga-loving independent woman with little or no time? Do you live in a small apartment or dorm room without the luxury of space to submerge your yoga mat in the bathtub and then allow it to dry?
We get it.
But ladies, if you haven’t paid much attention to cleaning your yoga mat thus far: think again.
Your yoga mat is carted around, plopped on the ground, walked on, moisturized with sweat and peppered with microscopic organisms. Is it stinky? Sure. Unsanitary? Absolutely. And let’s not gloss over the fact that some, or most of the times, we have our faces resting right on this precious yoga accessory!
And soap? Well, that can just leave our yoga mats dangerously slippery if not rinsed properly.
So, let us practice yoga, allow ourselves to relax without having to cringe about how unsanitary or germ-y our mats are and clean our yoga mats naturally.
How To Clean Your Yoga Mat Naturally
In a spray bottle, mix equal parts water and white vinegar, which breaks down dirt and eliminates odor. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice into mixture to further cleanse and freshen. Add a few drops of tea tree oil or essential oil for their antibacterial properties.Using a sponge or washcloth, clean and wipe your mat with the spritz. Dry your mat completely before rolling it up.
