Let’s face it: running with a partner is always better. Finding a friend with the same pace, schedule and goals, though, is often difficult. Just because you don’t have a running twin, however, doesn’t mean you’re destined to hit the pavement alone. The solution: join a running club!
It’s Safer. Running with a group can make early morning and late evening runs a little safer.
It’s Social. It’s a great way to meet new people interested in the same lifestyle choices and, if you’re new to a neighborhood, can be a great way to learn your way around town.
It’s Motivating. Running with a group can really motivate you to you achieve your goals and improve your pace. You can’t exactly slack when others are pulling you along.
It Holds You Accountable. When you have a scheduled meeting time, you are much less likely to bail out! We’ve all put our workouts off saying, “I will get to it later,” but a running club can really help you stay committed.
You’ll Get Advice. You can get some great tips while out for those runs! Learn the best place to get those all-important running shoes or tips on how you can improve that stride.
You’ll Get Outside. While that treadmill comes in handy sometimes (especially in bad weather), a running club will get you out in the fresh air.
It’s Supportive. Whether you’re training for a 5K or a marathon you will have bud’s to train with and teammates to cheer you on!
So what are you waiting for? Join the club! Or even start one of your own! Check out the Road Runner’s Club of America for more tips!
