The holidays have a way of highlighting drama with a big fat yellow marker and  bringing all your baggage to the surface.

With all this added stress: a sh*t show of emotions – and, all too often, emotional eating. Instead of reaching for foods that further confound the stressful situation (think: cookies, cakes and candies), load up on these foods for a better mood.

Turkey. Tryptophan, that ingredient in turkey that makes you sleepy, is actual a precursor to serotonin, the happy hormone!

Salmon. Omega-3 fatty acids, like those found in salmon, not only improve your mood but also your memory – for a brighter today… and tomorrow!

Chard. This dark leafy green is jam packed with magnesium, which has been shown to boost our ability to handle stress. Plus, it can ease PSM and help us sleep better too!

Egg yolks. Just a mild vitamin b12 deficiency can seriously impact your mood so load up on vitamin b12 egg yolks in your morning omelet for a mood-boosting breakfast. Puts a whole new spin on sunny side up, huh?

Brown Rice. Rich in selenium, low levels of which have been correlated with to poor moods, brown rice is a mood boosting pantry staple.
