Try this delicious grilled grapefruit recipe for a sweet and healthy breakfast, snack or even dessert.
1 large grapefruit
1 teaspoon of coconut palm sugar, sucanat or organic cane sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 pinches ginger powder (optional)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Wash grapefruit and cut it in half, along the hemisphere. Use a small knife to cut around the outside of the grapefruit (between the fruit and the pith, aka: the white part) then cut along each of the white membranes separating the sections. This will make it much easier to scoop out the fruit later.
Spread a little natural sweetener on each half then add a sprinkle of cinnamon and any other combination of spices you like (like ginger or vanilla). Spread them evenly on the face of the grapefruit
Heat a non-stick grill pan on medium-high heat. Place the grapefruit face down on the pan. Grill for 2-3 minutes, making sure not to burn.
Stand over the stove and take in the sweet, sweet aroma. Serve warm.
