If it seems like everyone you know is on a detox diet (or “cleanse”), well, they probably are.

Unfortunately, for many, their detox diet is the equivalent of a quick-fix scam: short-lived and with questionable results that may or may not leave you even worse off than you were before.

So, here’s how we recommend you jumpstart your “detox life” – and not just for a couple days, but every day…

Water plays an essential role in the body, including in the transportation of nutrients throughout and the elimination of waste. However, we are generally too distracted by our coffee or OJ in the morning to remember this simple and life-sustaining beverage.

To jump-start any detox plan, begin the morning with a cup of hot water and freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 1/2 a small lemon).

While the water does its job of hydration, the hot temperature will help aid in digestion as the lemon juice supports the natural detoxification of your liver. It’s also a great source of vitamin C!
