When Montego Glover was a young girl growing up in Macon, GA, she loved going to the theater and ballet, so it’s no surprise she ended up on the stage. Known as a “triple threat” – talented in singing, dancing and acting – Glover was nominated for a Tony award last year for the role of Felicia Farrell in Memphis.

The stunning actress currently performs eight shows a week, a schedule that’s physically and mentally demanding. (Grueling, if you ask us!) And in the cutthroat world of Broadway theater, there’s only one way to make sure you can hit your mark, as well as the high notes, night after night, and that’s to be fanatical about your health.

Recently, Glover shared some of her secrets with The Beauty Bean:

Maintaining such an intense schedule has to be exhausting. What foods do you eat to stay so energetic?
I’m a girl from the South, so food is my friend. Before a show I have a decent meal – I need fuel to get through the show. Typically I eat lots of vegetables, a lean piece of meat and a starch. But I have to eat at least 1½ hour before curtain, so after the show I’m usually ravenous and I eat whatever my body wants. Sometimes I’ll get a hamburger, sometimes hummus, crackers and cheese or fruit. It’s very rarely anything in the middle! I am also a real fan of water. I don’t drink soda at all. I rarely drink coffee, but love chamomile tea – it’s great for after a show when you need to calm down.

How do you stay in such great shape?
I walk everywhere. If I have time for a class it’s usually yoga or ballet. The show lasts for 2 ½ hours, and I’m onstage for all but 10 or 15 of those minutes, so it’s important that I don’t overdo it.

When you just need to wind down, what do you do to relax?
I love a nice European facial and also a 90-minute deep tissue massage at Bliss Spa. They have a lot of locations so I can stop in no matter where I am during the day. During the show I wear 3-inch heels, moving up and down stairs, so I’m also a big fan of foot and hand reflexology.

What’s your favorite at-home relaxation treatment?
There’s one product that’s a staple in my home, and that’s Bath and Body Works Stress Relief Eucalyptus Spearmint bath salts. The minute I inhale that scent it starts to undo the knots in my body and I relax.

What one beauty product do you never leave the house without?
Lip balm. I use Palmers Cocoa Butter Stick.
