5 New Year’s Eve Hair Hacks

5 Hair Hacks For New Year’s Eve

By Courtney Leiva

While you’ve probably got your New Year’s Eve outfit all planned – and maybe even your perfect pucker picked our – you may not have given the same amount of thought to your New Year’s Eve hair.

And, well, since it’s the one holiday that practically requires you to channel your most glamorous self, here are some hair hacks, if you will, to help you to prevent meltdowns and frustration (just us?!) and to bring some New Year’s vibes to your hair!

Hair Hacks #1 Use Bobby Pins

Whether your hair is curly or straight, bobby pins are a beauty lifesaver, providing hold and elegance to even the most unruly of locks. And since they only become more useful throughout the night, every girl should stash some pins in her purse or clutch, especially if you are in need of a quick and effortless updo on the fly.

“Bobby pins give the choice of pulling everything back tightly, or making a loose style while still showing off your natural texture,” says  Devachan LA Stylist, Sergio Delgado. “For a quick and easy hairstyle, use the DevaCurlSuperCream and bobby pins, to smooth down your curls, and twist them up completely to give a clean, more finished look.”

Hair Hacks #2 Try A Chic Updo

You don’t have to be a hair guru to create trendy updos that will stand out from the crowd, especially since some hairstyles can be created in minutes. For something trendy, try creating a braided updo or a faux hawk for an all eyes-on-you look.

“Braided high ponytails are a great cross between polished and edgy,” says Miguel Corvlan, professional hair stylist and colorist at Style Edit. “Styles like these require very little time to create, and can provide a whole new look in minutes. If there are some greys showing up up on the hairline and part, use the Style Edit Root Touch Up to help conceal your roots.”

Hair Hacks #3 Go For A Straight + Sleek Blowout

If you aren’t exactly the updo loving type, a simple blowout is a good way to achieve true sophistication. Flattering on every face shape, sleek and straight locks look just as fancy as chignons and braids at the end of the day.

“A simple blowout will give your hair movement and volume for a more sensual look,” explains Corvlan.

Hair Hacks #4 Get Voluminous Waves

When you’re unsure what to do, go with sexy, voluminous waves since this low-maintenance hairstyle works well with any dresscode. To get this sultry beauty look yourself, follow TRESemmé Stylist Jeanie Syfu’s easy to follow steps…

Step 1: Rake a dollop-sized amount of TRESemmé Extra Firm Control Mousse through the roots and lengths of damp hair to set the foundation for volume and lift.

Step 2: Blow-dry hair, focusing on lifting the roots with a round brush while drying to create initial body.

Step 3: Using a one-inch barrel curling iron, take small to medium sections of hair and curl from mid-length to ends. Once curls set, brush through to soften the wave.

Step 4: Complete this look by misting the TRESemmé Perfectly (un)Done Ultra Brushable Hairspray all over the hair for long-lasting, soft waves.

Hair Hacks #5 Short Hair SOS

And if your hair is on the shorter side, give bobs and short cuts a sexy edge with Dove Celebrity Stylist Mark Townsend’s steps, for flawless New Year’s style…

Step 1:  Start by liberally spritzing Dove Oxygen Moisture Root Lift Spray throughout damp hair, and blow dry with a round brush for long lasting volume.

Step 2: After hair is dry, create a deep side part about four inches from the top of your ear, then wrap three to four inch sections of hair around a 1-inch Harry Josh Pro Tools Ceramic Curling Iron to create loose bends in the hair.

Step 3: For added texture and shine, spray Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black Dry Shampoo through hair while scrunching with hands.
