Hairstyle Trend: Combre Highlights Take Ombré Next Level

By Alix Turoff

By now, it’s safe to assume that most, if not of all of our readers are privy to the ombré trend which we first raved about 2 years ago around this time. But when it comes to beauty trends, everything old is new again, usually with a little added twist.

Around this time of year, you may be looking to change up your style for summer. This could mean working on your body, changing up your wardrobe, or styling your hair in a different way. We decided it was time for a little change so we headed over to the Meat Packing District to Sally Hershberger Salon Downtown where Dana Ionato would be doing our color.

Combre, a term coined by Dana Ionato of Sally Hershberger Salon Downtown, which stands for copper ombré is the perfect solution if you’re digging the ombré trend but want to try something a little more subtle or just a tad more unique, a la Eva Longoria and Rachel Bilson.

Ombré Manicure You Can DIY!

Suitable for blondes and brunettes alike, and ideal for those of you unsure whether you want to go lighter or darker, combre might be just the change you’re looking for.

With a copper base to complement your natural hair, fading into a lighter shade at the ends, combre is, according to Dana, “natural and ideal for a subtle change,” perfect for anyone looking for a noticeable change with low maintenance upkeep.

Affordable, time saving and trendy all at once, one trip to the salon is all you need for months of color since combre looks even better as the roots grow in, making this look perfect for busy gals like us. Even better for those us time-strapped: the whole process took no longer than an hour, which we always appreciate (although we could get used to the amazing cappuccinos at Sally Hershberger!).

As if we needed more convincing, Hollywood’s also embracing the look. Salma Hayek, Eva Longoria, Rachel Bilson and Jessica Biel have all sported combre locks recently… Not bad company to be in if you ask us!
