Hair Trends How To: Fishtail Braids
There’s something about a fishtail braid that always catches our eye. As the traditional braid’s prettier (and probably younger… that’s just how it goes, right?!) sister, the fishtail braid is one of our favorite hair trends for summer.
Not sure how to master the fishtail braid at home?
Celebrity hairstylist Nikki Wright, who works on the set of BET’s The Game, shares her insider tips for how to achieve the fishtail braid at home, a la Gabrielle Dennis as Janay.
How To Do A Fishtail Braid…
First, smooth all your hair straight with a flat iron.
Pull all of your hair to one side and part tresses into 3 large, even sections.
Take a small strand of hair (preferably from underneath) from one section and bring it over to the other side.
Do the same step for the other two sections.
Repeat steps 2 & 3 until finished.
Secure with a hair tie at the end before taking a few thin pieces of hair out around the face for softness.
To give volume to this style, softly tug the edges of the braid to widen it.
Misting the finished style with White Sands Infinity Hairspray for hold.
