Hair How To: Rachel Zoe’s Braid Embellished Ponytails

Designer: Rachel Zoe

Lead Hair Stylist: L’Oréal Professionnel Artist Pepper Pastor

The Scoop: Designer Rachel Zoe’s Spring 2015 collection celebrates the jet-set style of the 1960s, a decade when a day of travel was an excuse to dress chicly. Building on the refined silhouettes of that period, the collection is inspired by a woman’s visits to exotic locations such as St. Tropez, Portofino, and Marrakech. Zoe’s combination of timeless shapes and tailored pieces are reflected in the makeup and hair that blend both the contemporary and the classic. “This season’s hair stays true to the beauty of the 1960s,” said Zoe. “The low pony with a center part is polished and mod. But staying true to my love of bohemia, I also wanted to incorporate a braid element.” For the Spring 2015 presentation, L’Oréal Professionnel Artist Pepper Pastor took designer Zoe’s vision and created a soft pulled-back style with a braid made as the center of the look. “To keep the ’60s inspiration we added smooth definition to the crown,” noted Pastor. “The playful hidden braid keeps the look current and on-trend.””
