How To DIY Prabal Gurung’s Active Ponytails

Hair How To: Prabal Gurung’s Active Ponytails

Designer: Prabal Gurung

Lead Hair Stylist: Paul Hanlon for TRESemmé

The Scoop: As Prabal Gurung explained about his collection, “Each season we aim to create looks that will inspire women across the globe to express their own style. The ultimate goal is to make women feel both confident and beautiful.” As for the hair, Paul Hanlon for TRESemmé said, “The hair for Prabal was inspired by strong, athletic and modern women. The texture in the hair makes it look as though she might have just stepped out of the gym whilst the structure of the ponytail gives it an edge that complements the multi-layered sports inspired collection.”

How To DIY The Active Ponytails at Prabal Gurung

  1. Create a strong center part
  2. Apply TRESemmé Extra Firm Control Mousse to the roots, section by section, ensuring full coverage by working upwards from the nape of the neck up to the parting
  3. Comb through with a wide tooth comb to create separation between the hair and run your fingers to accentuate the texture further. Leave mousse to dry naturally rather than use a hair dryer to give extra hold and layers to the look
  4. Pull the hair back tightly from the sides of the head and down to create a low ponytail at the nape of the neck. Secure with an elastic
  5. Smooth a small amount of TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Smoothing Crème Serum onto the tail of the ponytail and twist it into a loose knot to create a slight bend and wave in the hair
  6. Blast the knot with a hair dryer to achieve natural movement in the ends before undoing the knot
