At Paris’ Spring/Summer 2013 Fashion Week, Redken Creative Consultant Guido took inspiration from the Spring/Summer 2013 Nina Ricci collection, creating an edgy, shiny French twist. Retaining the sense of classic feminine beauty of the French twist, the grungy shine took what could be thought of as a dated hairstyle to modern new heights perfect.
“I created a simple French twist today at Nina Ricci, it’s a very feminine look and extremely easy to do. I also like that it’s in fact very modern. I pulled out a few pieces towards the nape of the neck to give the style a little character, to ensure it wasn’t completely perfect, she’s still a real woman,” said Guido.
Easy to recreate, we love this edgy French twist as
and would be easy for a woman to recreate herself, just as the more eroticized collection still featured a number of it’s signature cocktail dresses and wearable, everyday styles.
Sure, Guido paired this with Spring/Summer 2013 fashions, but why wait?
How To DIY Nina Ricici’s Modern French Twist
Apply Redken full frame 07 ($19) all over volumizing mousse to dry hair from roots to ends, raking through with fingers
Brush through with a natural brush – don’t make a part.
Blow-dry hair that’s been damped from the Redken full frame 07 ($19) with a diffuser, lifting at the roots and pulling toward the back of the head, so it’s not flat.
Wrap hair up into a French twist, using end of a tail comb to tuck the ends of the hair under the twist and a few bobby pins to hold in place.
Pull a few bits of the ends of the hair out of the twist and down towards the nape in the back, taking care to keep it tight so it keeps its shape.
