Seaside Glamour: How To DIY Badgley Mischka’s Vintage Updos

Hair How To: Seaside Glamour

With a collection inspired by chic seaside glamour, the Badgley Mischka Spring/Summer 2014 runway show reflected both the black and white seaside photography of the 20s and 30s with the designer’s take on modern mermaids.

The chic vintage-inspired hairstyles follows suit.

Created by runway stylist Peter Gray for Moroccanoil, the elegant styles highlight smooth, soft waves, textured hair rolls across the nape of the neck, and a sophisticated contrast of shine on top and side waves and dry/semi-matte textures on the hair rolls.

How To DIY Badgley Mischka Vintage Updos

Step 1: Star with a small hidden horizontal braid at the nape of the neck to serve as a base for pinning the rolled hair in place.

Step 2: For a semi-matte look with texture on the ends, apply a small amount of Moroccanoil Treatment Light mid length to ends. Follow by spraying with the new Moroccanoil Root Boost sprayed in and combing it through section by section.

Step 3: Rough-dry the hair.

Step 4: Use Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Strong and set the hair using a 1-1/2” curling iron, pinning the curls to create a soft textured movement.

Step 5: Once cool, comb out each section with a skinny brush, to create a smooth, glossy surface.

Step 6: Roll the hair lengths into a small, loose horizontal roll at the nape of the neck and used hair pins to attach the roll to the braided base underneath.

Step 7: Spray a bit of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray on your hands and apply it to the surface of the hair for a glossy finish on the top and sides.
