Blue Eyeliner: From Bold To Barely There, 5 Blue Eyeliners We Love

By Alexis Wolfer

If there’s a runway trend that seems like it’s bound to stick around for a while (and by “a while” in trend-speak, I mean a couple of seasons!), it’s blue eyeliner.

From the cobalt eye liner Sarah Lucero used to line the upper lids of models at the Rebecca Minkoff Fall/Winter 2014 runway show at New York Fashion Week, to the bold blue lower liner Peter Philips just sent down the runway at the Chanel Resort 2014 show at Singapore Fashion Week, bold blue hues are bound to set up show in your makeup bag.

To get you started on your blue eyeliner live affair (yes, even you skeptics will soon jump on board), here are a few of our favorites.

5 Blue Eyeliners We Love

Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream Waterproof Cream Color in #52 ($23). If you have green or hazel eyes, use this sea green cream makeup as an eyeliner to bring out the golden, green color in your eyes. For a more subtle take on the trend, blend it out to a sheer sea foam shadow.

Aqualillies for Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner in Splash ($24). It’s not often that the color of makeup literally makes us swoon – this was one of those rare times. With an iridescent sparkle in a teal base, this blue eyeliner is worth snagging. Now. Plus, it comes with a limited edition and brilliant dual liner brush with an angled side for more precise application.

Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Periwinkle ($20). The powdery blue hue and the fine point on this liner make this an easy way to add just a bit of blue to your eye makeup routine, without feeling like you’re going overboard into a sea of blue. Plus, it smudges when you want it to and stays put when you don’t for all the control freaks out there (myself included!).

Mark Color Me In Eye Crayon in Mint Candy ($12). If sexy shimmer is your speed and pastels are your poison, Mark is your man. In a gorgeous sea foam green that blends out to a sheer pastel, this eye pencil is ideal for adding a pop of color to the inner corners of your eyes. (Or for coloring in your entire lid!)

Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Siren ($19). No one does waterproof like Urban Decay – and this blue eyeliner is certainly no exception. In a stunning midnight blue, this is the ideal liner for those of you looking to take the cat-eye trend to new blue heights (which you should, FYI)!

Still skeptical on wearing blue eyeliner?

Try lining upper lids with one of the above blue eyeliners and then running NYX Collection Noir Black Liner in Kohl Kajal ($6) on top to create a black liner with a bit of blue undertones peaking through.

Or, try applying just a millimeter of blue to the inner lower lash line and lining the remainder of your lower lash line with Dolce & Gabbana The Kohl Pencil in Graphite ($30).
