One of the greatest things about the holiday season is the excuse to add a bit more glam and glitz to our makeup routine. Nothing beats effortless glowing skin during the cold winter months. Just by adding a few products and following The Beauty Bean’s tips and tricks, you can enhance your favorite features and be a total knockout at your next holiday party.
Highlighting and contouring sculpts the face. Here at The Beauty Bean we have a few product recommendations that will be sure to bring out your best qualities.
Yves Saint Laurent’s Touche Eclat ($40) is one our favorite brightening products. Simply click the pen applicator and apply to key places on the face where you which people to focus their attention. Love your eyes? Dab a bit in the inner corners of your eyes. Have killer cheekbones or enviable collarbones? Swipe it on to draw attention. YSL claims that this product even has the ability to erase fatigue, highlight complexion, brighten eyes and plump lips – and we’re not disagreeing. Simply swipe the brush applicator over your concealer to brighten dark circles, place on cheekbones and on the bridge of your nose for a highlight, on your brow bone to awaken your eyes and you can even outline your lips with the product to give the illusion of fuller lips.
Contouring (or enhancing the shadows of your face) will also help to enhance your features and make the highlights you’ve created stand out even more. Chanel Soleil de Tan ($48), with its unique gel like consistency that dries to a powdery finish, creates an ideal base for you to use a matte bronzer, such as Benefit Hoola Bronzer ($28), to contour brilliantly. Just place the product in the hollows of your cheeks (underneath your cheekbone) in small circular motions with an angled brush such as the MAC 168 ($32). Then place your usual powder bronzer on top, for a contoured finish that will last through even the latest of holiday parties.
Fresh glowing skin is not only great to warm up the skin during the holiday season, but also helps give a more youthful appearance. Try placing a liquid highlighter, such as Smashbox Artificial Light, on your cheekbones and on your collarbones.
