How To Increase Your Happiness Through Self Care
We all know that too much stress is bad for us and can increase our risk of chronic disease. So why don’t we take time to manage our stress? Understanding the importance of self-care by taking time to be alone and break away from the hustle and bustle of your life can help increase your productivity, improve your health and help you clear your mind – and, most importantly, make you happier! Yet we all have excuses as to why we’re not taking better care of ourselves and living our best, happiest lives. Here are the top 3 reasons that we’re not taking care of ourselves and managing our stress… and how to change ‘em for happiness, love and more!
Lack of Time. The most common reason for not managing stress is lack of time. Many women say they don’t have time to exercise, eat healthfully or sleep enough. But we all have the same number of hours in a day and we need to make time for things that are important to us. So, what are you waiting for? Take time out to take care for your health and find creative ways to manage your stress.
Feelings of Guilt. We are so used to taking care of our families, friends and everyone else. Many women feel guilty taking time to take care of themselves – but there is no need to feel guilty! You must take care of yourself and your health, so you can be able to care for your loved ones. Like the airplane mantra goes, “put the oxygen mask on yourself before helping others.” The fact is, you won’t be able to offer anything to loved ones if you have nothing to offer – so don’t feel guilty about caring for yourself first.
It’s Too Expensive. Relaxing doesn’t have to involve a pricey spa day. In fact, it’s easy to learn how to relax without breaking the bank. Go for a walk, listen to music, plan a pampering girls’ night in, read a book, meditate or just carve out time to do anything else that you enjoy. Although it is nice to have a spa weekend it’s easy (and affordable) to relax for less.
