Robert Verdi Shares His Hostess Tips
Hosting guests from out of town – or just around the block? Make them feel at home with Robert Verdi’s tips for the hostess (who is soon to be the one) with the mostest!
The way to one’s heart may be through their stomach (and a batch of fresh made Vegan + Gluten-Free Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies never hurt anyone!) but when it comes to making guests feel comfortable in your home, Robert Verdi says to start in the bathroom.
“When you’re entertaining at home, create a pristine, welcoming bathroom. Make sure everything is new… and that the bathroom is filled with everything necessary.” Check to make sure the toothpaste tube isn’t half full, that fluffy towels are washed and waiting and that the shower is loaded with all the necessities (Verdi suggests stocking your shower with Pantene Pro-V shampoo and conditioner and Venus disposable razors). “Guests feel unwelcome when they have to ask you for what they need,” so make sure everything is easily accessible and available for them.
And for all you soon-to-be-guests out there, don’t arrive empty handed – and be sure to bring something the whole family can appreciate, like an Archipelago Botanicals candle ($24) or Caswell-Massey box of soaps gift set ($30). Or, if it’s just adults in the house, a bottle of Kendall-Jackson wine (always a crowd pleaser!).
