DIY Ombré Manicure
This may be a look seen on the spring 2012 runways, but we see no reason to wait until the snow melts (when it’s yet to even begin falling here in NYC, thank goodness) before wearing the latest nail polish trend: ombré manicures.
Seen on numerous runways during New York Fashion Week, we instantly fell in love with the trend backstage at Jen Kao, where Wanda Ruiz for CND created what she aptly named a “Lethal Love” manicure – aka an ombré manicure with dangerously black undertones and bright tips reminiscent of gorgeous poisonous frogs.
Although the models’ gradation manicures were created using an airbrush tool, the look can be easily recreated at home!
Begin by painting the bottom half of your nail with CND’s Inkwell and the top half with a bright polish like CND Colours in Midnight Sapphire, Anchor Blue, Rouge Red or Green Scene. While still wet, sweep a layer of Air Dry top coat over the entire nail, beginning at the bottom so as to drag the dark shade across top of nail for an ombré finish.
