Diary #1: Schick® Intuition® Simplicity Project, Diary of a Beauty Blogger

I am a wanna be minimalist.

I say “wanna be” because, well, when you have no fewer than 12 bottles of nail polish on your desk at any given time it’s tough to actually be a minimalist. (What can I say, it’s part of my job as the Editor in Chief over here at The Beauty Bean to make sure I try everything out so I can bring you the best of the best!) Throw in regular TV appearances that leave my closet jam-packed with clothes and a schedule that has me working from home pretty regularly and, well, the wanna be minimalist in me is quickly at odds with the beauty hoarder and fashion collector I seem to have become!

When the uber-organized minimalist in me gets her way, you can find me at an organization store loading up on anything (and by that I mean everything) that can help take things off of my desk (and floor) and just put it all away.

But here’s where I get stuck.

Sure, I can throw the 27 eyeliners currently on my desk into a chic black hat box under my desk (which is actually precisely what I did) and feel immediately better about myself. Picture perfect desk = picture perfect life, right?! (Don’t burst my bubble here.) But ya know what doesn’t feel so great? Realizing 3 months later that you never even tried (let alone shared with The Beauty Bean’s amazing readers) the aforementioned eyeliners because they were in a black hole, literally!

So, when I heard that the Schick® Intuition® brand was launching a Simplicity Project, I knew I wanted in (even more than I have ever wanted into a sample sale, and you all know how much I love those!). Not only because their razors rocked my world the first time I tried them (talk about simplicity – you can literally toss your shaving cream in the trash and free up valuable shower shelf space since the razor lathers and shaves in one step! No shave creams or gel needed.), but also because I knew simplicity tips from someone who really understood the billion (okay, that’s an exaggeration) beauty products I needed within arm’s reach would be life changing.

And, so, I signed on to be the beauty blogger for the Schick® Intuition® Simplicity Project, a full campaign to help women simplify and streamline their everyday lives.

What does that mean, exactly?

I like things to be neat and tidy (even though this sometimes gets away from me!), try to prioritize the things that are important to me (like a great workout!), and work hard to stay on top of my mind, body, spirit and career. I do not, however, (as evidenced by my desk that literally looks like the aftermath of a beauty supply store  explosion,) always succeed! This is why I’m so excited to work with Jill to help improve the areas of my life that aren’t feeling so Miss. Simplicity (like my desk and closet!).
