Inside My Beauty Bag: August 2012

After numerous emails asking me what products I use, I figured a monthly (although don’t hold me to that!) round up of goodies I’m currently using and loving was in order. And, well, since I share these must-haves with my BFFs regularly (although I NEVER use “BFF” in the real world), I figured I should share them with you all as well – hey, it is to learn about my “behind the bean” beauty secrets that you’re even reading my blog, right?!

So, here we go…

Tinted Moisturizer. After a long-term (and, yes, exclusive) relationship with Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20 ($43), we’ve parted ways. What can I say… I fell I recently fell in love (at first sight, if you will,) with La Prairie Anti-Aging Hydra Tint Creme SPF 20 ($100). I know, it’s an upgrade, but it’s well worth the investment. It’s lighter, more luminous and goes on like a light lotion, without any foundation-like feel (which I hate). My skin can breathe, it’s protected from the sun, and it has just the perfect little bit of skintone-evening coverage to make me feel like I’m always putting my most flawless face forward. HIGHLY recommend.

Antiperspirant. Now, if you know me AT ALL (in real life, anyway,) you know I’m a sweater. I mean a shirt-drenched, wring-out-my-sports-bra kinda sweater. Unfortunately, my propensity for perspiration doesn’t end at Equinox. Having tried what felt like everything on the market (and often landing on armpit-irritating Certain Dry ($5.29), which seriously stops the sweat but, in my book anyway, isn’t worth the feeling it gives me of wanting to rip my armpits out), I discovered Dove Clinical Protection ($9.99). Now, I have to be honest here… I LOVE Dove for gentle cleansing at all, but when it came to wanting some SERIOUS sweat-stopping protection, I was skeptical. But damn did they prove me wrong. In fact, it’s so damn good that Polly Blitzer and spent a good 15 minutes in the (not at all) green room at Veria convincing a production assistant that it was, in fact, the best way to stop pit stains on set.

Eye Gel. If I fear anything about getting older, it’s that crepe-like skin that seems to take over the under-eye area. Needless to say, I’m an eye cream whore in every sense of the word. I know that most eye creams are all about cumulative use and preventing further aging, blah, blah, blah because this most definitely work for a type-A result-oriented beauty editor like myself. I want results and I want them now. Recently, though, I started using Rejuve MD Eye Gel ($90) and let me tell you: you see results and you see them now! My under-eye area looks plumper and the fine lines are instantly minimized. I feel younger already. Not to put all my eggs in one basket, though, (hey, you can never be too careful with the under-eye area if you ask me!), I’ve also been dabbing on La Prairie Cellular Eye Contour Cream ($135) at night too. And, in the mornings, I’m OBSESSED with Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector ($39.50), which is like a magic eraser for dark under-eye circles and puffiness with it’s light tint and cooling applicator – seriously, if I weren’t so smitten with this Rejuve MD situation this entire post would be about Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector because it’s a game-changer!
