Beauty School with Ric Pipino

If you’ve ever wanted hair like Ali Larter, Bridget Moynahan or Jaime Pressly, you’ve wanted to get your locks in Ric Pipino’s hands. With spreads appearing in magazines across the globe, from British Vogue to Harper’s to Queen, Pipino has made the cut on both sides of the pond (as well as down under, where he is originally from). As a true master of the cut, Pipino’s trend setting talent has affirmed his reputation as one of the most sought-after hair stylists in the world. Recently, he has further solidified this position with the opening of his downtown Manhattan salon, Pipino Nolita and his brand new product line, Revolution in Cut.

To get in his head, (since we can’t all get our hair in his hands!), we head to Beauty School with Ric Pipino where he fills us in…

I first knew I wanted to be in the beauty industry when… I was fifteen years old and unintentionally followed the footsteps of my brother.  When I was a kid, I use to hang around with him and enjoyed being around all the pretty girls, landing me in the hair business.

If I weren’t a hair stylist, I would be… a photographer.

If I could get my beautifying hands on one person, it would be… Julia Roberts.

My beauty icon is… Audrey Hepburn.

Currently, I am inspired by… John Freida.

My biggest beauty splurge is… Santa Maria Novella Shave Cream.

My perfect pamper day would include… sleeping past 7 am and going for a day of beauty treatments at Spa Chakra on Fifth.

The next big thing in beauty will be… choosing your hair care products based on the haircut rather than the hair type. Choosing products that support the shape, style and personality of the cut rather than “just” the texture of your hair. Revolution in Cut (Ric’s line) http://www.pipino.com/index2.php caters to 6 different hairstyles and helps to maintain the haircut in between salon visits. That’s the next big thing!

We think this will be the next big thing too!

If I could paint the world one color, I’d paint it… the colors of my imagination.

My favorite beauty product under $10 is… Crest Toothpaste.

If I could only use 3 beauty products for the rest of my life, they would be… toothpaste, soap and deodorant.
