Pantone Color of the Year Makes a Big Splash

By Alix Turoff

Word on the street is that Turquoise is the color of the year, well, according to Pantone, the global authority on color anyway.  Chosen for its unique ability to be both serene and exciting, we love Turquoise because all it takes is a pop of turquoise here or there to transport us to a place of positivity and health – and, here at The Beauty Bean, that’s what it’s all about. Sure, you can paint a wall to bring Turquoise home with you, but if you want to bring Turquoise, and all it connotes, with you throughout your day (and aren’t into wearing turquoise jewels daily), we’ve found three fun and trendy ways to integrate the color into your daily routine.

An easy protein shake, perfect for summer!

The Beauty Bean loves a pool-hued eye: Not many of us are blessed with naturally blue irises, but that doesn’t mean that even the brown-eyed gals among us can’t fake it with makeup. Napoleon Perdis’ Eye Patrol Eye Shadow in Private Ocean ($20) not only adds serious drama to your lids but it can also double as eyeliner (just wet a thin brush and line away!) making this a great bang for your buck. Flirt! I’m Whipped Eyeshadow Mousse in Cruisin’ ($12) is also one of our favorites with it’s rich and creamy consistency that made us feel like we were applying aromatherapy for our eyes. If you’re in the market for separate eyeliner, try Jemma Kidd’s I Tech Liquid Eyeliner in Covert ($16), which is both extremely fast drying (ideal for the impatient among us, ourselves included!), and smudge-free. Apply any of the these – or find your own! – and wait for the compliments to roll in!

The Beauty Bean loves a turquoise manicure: one of the easiest and more subtle ways to wear the hue, try polishing your digits with Knock Out Cosmetics polish in Pool ($19). The color can be matte if used as is or glossy with the use of a shiny topcoat and the long grip on the brush makes it so easy to paint with your non-dominant hand, one of the biggest reasons women don’t paint their own nails. If inhaling the fumes of nail polish makes you queasy (not to mention nervous about the havoc it wreaks on your health!), go for Priti’s organic polish in Kingfisher Daisy ($12.50). And, when in doubt, and on a budget, you can’t go wrong with the tried and true drug store brand, Rimmel London. Rimmel London’s Lasting Finish Pro Nail Enamel in Marine Blue ($3.99) is not only inexpensive but is super shiny and long lasting.

Master the at-home manicure!

The Beauty Bean loves killer kicks: Hit the gym in Reebok Zigs in Turquoise and ($99.98) you’re bound to solicit jealous stares from everyone in your Saturday morning boot camp class when you start springing out of your squats in these killer kicks. With patented technology that absorbs impact and reduces wear, these sneakers are not only great for your body but also inspiringly on trend. And, when you just don’t think you can run anymore, all you’ll have to do is look down to be instantly transported to a tropical oasis. Okay, maybe not, but it will lift your mood and that may be all you need to push you through that final set.

A cardio workout with a twist!
