Spring 2010 Trend Alert: Nude is the New Nail Polish Color
Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Marni, and Marios Schwab, just to name a few, nailed down the nude nail trend in their Spring/Summer shows at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NYC. Not only is it low maintenance (those pesky chips won’t be nearly as noticeable), but the skin-toned colors also give the illusion of daintier digits by seemingly elongating your fashion-forward fingers. To nail the trend (pun intended), look for a shade that is approximately a blend of the color of your skin and the color of your natural nail bed (that is, if you’ve ever had polish off for long enough to know what the color of your nail bed really is).
Our tops picks are Deborah Lippmann’s Night and Day ($16) and OPI’s Malaysian Mist ($8.50) – although Marc Jacobs sent models strutting down the runway in a variety of OPI shades, including Dulce de Leche
, Malaysian Mist, Samoan Sand
and Barefoot in Barcelona. While Jacobs gave his models’ fingers a matte finish with OPI Matte Nail Envy
($12.99), we think the best perk of beige nails is the long wear factor – and all you laquer-lovers know that matte doesn’t last…
Beauty Bean tip: for an even more naturally nude look, stick to just one coat.
