Although September may not hold the same “turning over a new leaf” significance that January holds, there is nevertheless something about this month that stills feels like the beginning of the year. Sure, our lives may no longer follow a school schedule, but that doesn’t mean that September can’t still bring us the butterflies of something new. So, whether it’s fall fashion that gets you excited or a new fitness routine, I encourage you to start fall on a fresh, fit and fashionable foot – I know I will.

Beautify

with Berry-Black Lipsticks

September means that we can finally start wearing those fabulous fall trends we saw on the runway last February. One of the looks I’m most excited to start rocking: (almost) black lipstick. And trust me: there is a berry black hue for everyone – even for those of your for whom black lipstick seems like a Halloween costume gone wrong. See my top picks here!

Lust

for a Fall Wardrobe

Whether you splurge on a few key items or go crazy at an off-price retailer (TJ Maxx is a personal favorite!), you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for these top trends: military-inspired fashions, over-the-knee boots, open-toed booties, red accessories, purple everything, pieces you can layer, chunky knit sweaters, (faux) fur and monotone outfits (think multiple shades of the same hue).

Nourish

with Seasonal Produce

As the weather begins to cool, get ready for fall’s freshest fruits. I’m looking forward to McIntosh apples (and even the squashes of winter). But, if you’re already mourning the loss of your summer staples, stock up on your warm-weather favorites (like all those antioxidant-packed berries!) and throw them in the freezer for wholesome produce all winter long.

Pamper

with a Fresh Routine

January may be the official start to the year, but there is something about September and the start of the school year that always leaves me thinking of September as the ideal start to a fresh routine. So, whether you’re heading back to school (or sending kids back) or just going about business as usual, we encourage you to do something new and fresh for yourself this fall. Try out that pottery class you’ve been thinking about or try a new fitness routine. Think of it as a pre-New Year, the ideal time to get a head start on healthy habits and all your other 2011 resolutions.
