Whether you’re planning a Super Bowl party or just attending one, there are easy ways to make man food considerably healthier! Here, we have 9 easy tips for your to follow for a guilt-free Sunday.
Get Fresh. Before the sweet and salty treats start calling your name, fill up on guilt-free vegetables. You can also use the raw veggies to replace chips in the plethora of dips bound to be present.
Make DIY Chips. If hummus, guacamole or salsa is your pick, swap out the usual pita or corn chips for lightly toasted 100% whole grain pita bread.
Get Baking. Instead of traditionally fried chicken wings, make baked ones instead. For an even healthier option, grill chicken strips and serve with hot sauce on the side.
Stay Hydrated. Often we mistake thirst with hunger so be sure to stay well hydrated (with water!), especially before noshing on those salty, dehydrating treats.
Sip Up. Beer may be the sports fan’s drink of choice, but it doesn’t have to be yours. Instead, sip on a wine spritzer, make homemade lemonade (with water, lemons and stevia) or just stick with water – or, at the very least, light beer. Your body will thank you come Monday morning!
Be Nuts. Raw nuts make a wonderful, heart-healthy treat. Mix raw almonds, cashews and pine nuts and serve in shot glasses (to help keep portions in check).
Bring On The Beans. Make a healthy bean dip by mashing a can of drained cannellini beans, 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil and garlic, salt and pepper to taste. The fiber will keep you full for longer, without the less-than-healthy ingrediants found in most other bean dips. Serve with cucumber slices or your DIY chips!
Go Crazy With Kebabs. Make fruit kebabs by skewering melon cubes. Serve with a sweet dip made by mixing non-fat Greek yogurt, cinnamon and honey.
