Tuna salad gets a bad wrap. With its heavy mayo base and usual home on a slice of white bread, what could be a healthy sandwich staple is often far from it. With a few quick swaps, though, your usual tuna salad can have a healthy, protein-packed and low-fat twist!
Healthy Tuna Fish Salad Recipe
1 small can tuna, in water
2 Tbsp hummus
½ cup peas, frozen or fresh
Salt and pepper to taste
Prepare peas ahead of time and refrigerate so they’re chilled. Drain tuna and mix in a bowl with hummus and peas until fully blended. Season to taste. Serve on 100% whole grain bread or just on its own for a protein-packed, low-fat take on tuna fish salad.
