With summer in full swing, my go-to summer hairstyles were starting to feel a bit like the heavy, humid air: stale.

Whether long and wavy, loosely braided or knotted in a bun, the hairstyles I rely upon to take me from Memorial Day to Labor Day, in style, seemed to have run their course, and it wasn’t even August yet. I even considered getting mint green highlights – much to Michael Angelo’s dismay – just to spice things up! Thankfully, prior to adding touches of green to my already fiery locks, I partnered with scünci to spice my strands up with temporary hair accessories that took my stale strands to embellished new heights.

Boho Chic Floral Twist ~ Take long locks from frumpy to fabulous with scünci blue flower bendini!

Air dry hair, blow drying the front, as needed, to prevent frizz around the hairline

Once dry, use a 1-inch clamp-less curling iron, as needed, to add dimension. Finger-comb to soften curls for a more natural finish

Spray roots and mid-shaft with dry shampoo for added volume, Sarah Jessica Parker-style

Part hair in the middle with a comb

Separate a section of hair, pulling from the left of your part down towards above your ear

Gently twist separated section in towards your head

Secure with scünci blue flower bendini clip

If you have particularly silky hair, spray with hairspray and reinforce with additional bobby pins

Edgy Color-Streaked Braid ~ Bored with braids? Add color streaks with scünci hot streaks!

Blow dry or flat iron hair straight

Part hair, as desired

Pull all of your hair over 1 shoulder and separate into 3 even sections, as you would to begin a braid

Secure 1 scünci hot streaks clip at the top of each section so that the clip is hidden underneath. (I used a different color in each strand.)

Braid hair, as usual

Secure with a scünci hair tie or bobby pin

Use your fingers to pull braid apart for added volume and to expose the colored streaks that may have been concealed while braiding

Elegantly Embellished Top Knot ~ Add girly glamour to basic buns with scünci flower bendini clips!

Pull blow dried (or day old!) hair into a high pony tail and secure with a scünci hair tie

Use a fine tooth comb to smooth hair around the face and nape of the neck, spraying with hairspray, as needed, to secure

Spray lengths of hair with dry shampoo and gently tease for more volume

Loosely twist hair around elastic, using bobby pins, as needed, to secure

Spray with hairspray

Affix 2 ivory scünci flower bendini clips to the front on the bun
