The Met Ball may be “The Oscars of NY,” but with fashion designers ruling the red carpets instead of Hollywood stars, the fashion and beauty looks can sometimes be more runway-edgy than Hollywood glamour.
But not always. (Not that runway-edgy is ever a bad thing, of course.)
Renato Campora for Frederic Fekkai styled Jessica Alba’s hair at the 2012 Met Ball – and while the inspiration for Jessica Alba’s hair may have been “asymmetrical look inspired by Elsa Schiaparelli,” the structured and elegant waves screamed old Hollywood glamour – and had us immediately hoping for a black tie invite to pop up in our mail boxes so we could replicate the hairstyle. (Note: we need about 4 months to grow our hair to epic lengths first, though, so please send invite then.)
How to Get the Look: Old Hollywood Waves on Jessica Alba’ at the Met Ball
On wet hair, apply Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel ($25) throughout. Create a dramatic, strong side part. Before drying the hair with a round brush for volume and shine. Once dry, use a one-inch curling iron for body and shape before brushing through the curls to create waves.
