Feeling green with envy over all the tinted tresses taking tinsel town by storm? Take your lackluster locks to new heights with purple highlights – a la Jordin Sparks, Christina Aguilera and Kelly Osbourne.
Don’t exactly have a career that affords you the ability to rock colored highlights in the office? No worries. Kristina Barricelli, Creative Consultant for Streekers (and the lady behind the locks of Miley Cyrus, Rooney Mara, Kristen Chenoweth and Vanessa Hudgens) helps us rock purple locks, without a permanent commitment.
Temporary Highlights: 3 Ways to Add Purple Highlights To Your Tresses
With A Tinted Top-Knot… Add a fresh twist to your traditional top-knot with purple highlights subtly peeking out. Pull hair up into a high ponytail and secure with a high elastic. Highlight random, wispy pieces of your ponytail with purple Streekers, painting pieces of your hair from your hair elastic to the ends. Once you have highlighted numerous pieces and let them dry, twist hair into a chic, high bun and secure with bobby pins. Coat with a light layer of hairspray.
Wth A Brightly Braided Ponytail Accent. Pull hair into a high ponytail and secure with an elastic. Take one small section of hair from underneath your ponytail and highlight it completely with purple Streekers. Wait for the color to dry before braiding the purple piece. Wrap the brightly colored braid around the base of the ponytail until you have completely hidden the elastic. Secure with bobby pins.
Dip-Dyed Ends. Create a dip-dye effect like Ashley Tisdale, Demi Lovato and Nicole Richie by saturating the ends of your hair with a bright color. Simply run the Streekers’ sponge applicator along the bottom inch of hair all the way around and let dry. (If you have a layered haircut, only apply to the bottom layer.) Want to pump up the color? Dip-dye your ends in three different colors! (We love pink, blue and ultra violet together, a la Lauren Conrad’s tie-dyed hair!)
