Spiritually Stated Jewels
Hoping to share the Light of Kabbalah with the world through her jewelry, Rachel Brown has designed an impressive collection of pieces designed to marry her passion for design with her desire for spiritual fulfillment. Based on the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet, each piece in her line of necklaces, bracelets and rings is engraved with Kabbalistic meditations intended to bring the wearer blessings, protection, health, prosperity and miracles. But whether or not you follow (or even buy into) Kabbalah, this collection is sure to, at the very least, beautifully bejewel your body.
We actually stumbled upon Rachel Brown’s jewelry at a trunk show she was holding at Equinox. And while we hardly ever interrupt our workouts for shopping (okay, “hardly ever” is perhaps an exaggeration), when we saw her table of gilded gems, we just couldn’t resist. The bold bangles, charmed necklaces and oversized rings were calling our names. It didn’t matter that we didn’t know what the Hebrew letters meant or represented. Just the design had us intrigued.
Fashioned from sterling silver and lightly plated in 24K gold, the statement pieces are all intentionally designed to show signs of wear over time. According to Kabbalah, as the gold becomes oxidized and scratched, the pieces change color depending on the energy of the person wearing them and ultimately take on the individuality of the wearer’s soul. Eventually, the jewelry begins to look like an antique, which is meant to physically reflect the 4000-year-old wisdom of Kabbalah.
Although the line is pricey, if Julia Roberts taught us anything at this year’s golden globes, it’s that a statement piece is all any girl really needs to transform her entire look. And when that statement piece can also bring us blessings, we’re sold – because whether your really believe in it or not, the chance of a miracle, no matter how slim, is still a chance (and we’ll take it!).
