Spring Fashion Must Have: ash&dans Infinity Scarf

Remember when you and your best friend came up with that genius idea for a wallet that doubles as a purse and also charges your cell phone? Or was it martini-induced excitement over creating a carb-free vodka? While you were off playing Inspector Gadget and amateur mixologist (it’s a science, right?), Ashley Cook and Danielle Dankner of ash&dans were cooking up an idea with some actual legs.

The pair met as students at Washington University in Saint Louis and moved to New York where their shared apartment became a pressure cooker of creativity. Their creation, ash&dans, became a blend of their own distinct styles—Ash, the free-spirited creative type, and Dans, the sleek Manhattanite with a love for the fashion industry. Together the line of lightweight jersey scarves and simple separates sticks to their motto “keep it simple,” but cute details and a finger on the pulse of trends helps keep the line pretty cool too.

We are big fans of the Spring/Summer 2010 collection, which features off-the shoulder dresses, chain link-lined cardigans, and our personal favorite, the infinity scarf. If you don’t know, infinity scarves are basically huge circles that loop around your neck a few times, for a casual look that is always perfectly draped. To step it up a notch, Ash and Dans have added cuffs and gems to the scarves. The gold cuffs have interlocking links, giving a beachy Grecian look. The gem scarves come in turquoise or onyx for alternatively Southwestern-casual and pretty-punk styling.

What do you do with your old tees?

With each different style coming in a wide range of colors of jersey, you’ll have no shortage of choices, but don’t be surprised if you have a hard time deciding. Our favorites are “Juliette,” a long infinity scarf with black gem details in camel and “Laura,” a short infinity scarf with gold cuff in navy. Pick your poison, we love them all.
