Hair Treatment Pampers Your Strands: How to Give Yourself an Indian Oil Head Massage
Spa Spotlight: Eve Salon NYC, A Rainforest Escape For Your Nails!
By Alix Turoff
Let’s face it: manicures and pedicures are an indulgence that many of us aren’t willing to give up, no matter how volatile our financial situations are. That doesn’t, though, mean that we go around splurging on the most expensive spa manicures. Rather, we often find ourselves wandering the East Village until we find the best deal. ($14 manicure/pedicure: yes please!) Sometimes (scratch that: most-times!) the no-frills service you get at the second floor walk-up salon with barely a manicure table in sight and questionable sanitation practices, though, just doesn’t quite cut it. On one such occasion, we ventured over to Eve Salon in New York City’s West Village to try their new Rainforest Manicure and Pedicure ($60). Let’s just say this made our budget salon seem nothing short of decrepit.
Upon entering Eve, we were handed our very own nail file sets: one for our manicure and one for our pedicure. (Cleanliness: check!) Plus, if you bring them back with you for your next service, you can save $1 on your manicure and $2 on your pedicure. How thrifty?! We then picked out our colors from the wide selection of Zoya and Essie polishes. As we sipped our blueberry iced teas and complimentary passion fruit margaritas, we sat down in the plush pedicure area with the latest issue of Vogue as we readied ourselves for what was to come.
After soaking our feet in a refreshing antioxidant-packed star fruit banana butter crème bath, the pedicure began with the standard steps: nail cutting, filing, cuticle clipping and more, followed by a passion fruit guava body rub, which removed the dead skin from our parched legs. The next part, though, was our favorite: a leg massage using an açai antioxidant body crème. The manicure was similarly sensational and left our hands feeling supple and soft. And what could be better than a spa treatment that exclusively uses Bella Lucce’s cruelty free and eco-friendly products that are rich in restorative antioxidants?!

After a long day at work, Eve’s Rainforest Renewal manicure and pedicure was just the way to kick off a summer weekend. As we tucked our nail files into our bags with our perfectly painted pinkies, (Essie’s Punchy Pink was our polish of choice and it didn’t disappoint!) we knew we’d be back! Second floor walk-up salon: we can get our cardio elsewhere!
