How A Beauty Queen Faux-Glows
If anyone knows the key to rocking a killing fake tan, it’s a beauty pageant queen. (Am I right?!) So, when given the chance to chat with Miss. America 2013 Mallory Hagan, well, all I really wanted to know was how she keeps her self tanner streak-less and blotch-free – because whenever I faux-glow, it never seems to be worth the risk of day-glo orange zebra stripes and sheets stained for days.
How to Apply Self Tanner, Like Miss America
1. Exfoliate. Try taking a handful of white sugar into the shower. It dissolves quickly for easy cleanup and won’t leave a residue.
2. Shave. Nothing like stray hairs to get in the way of a self-tan job, eh?
3. Moisturize. While most pros say to keep the grease away from your skin pre-self tanner, Miss America says it helps the self tanner go on more evenly and naturally, even if it doesn’t last as long. Seems like a tradeoff worth making.
4. Tan. Miss. America uses California Tan Instant Sunless Spray, so I will too.
