3 Things Your Facialist Wish You Did Before Your Appointment

How To Get Better Results From Your Facial

Next time you show up for a facial with high hopes of your esthetician waving her magic wand and sending you off on your way with a flawless complexion, here’s your reality check: your facialist may be a life-saver, but she’s not a magician.

In order for your esthetician to do her best work and for your skin to look and feel its best when you leave, there’s some homework you should be doing ahead of time to prep your skin.

We asked Celebrity Aesthetician and L’Oréal Paris Brand Ambassador Vanessa Hernandez (Gwyneth Paltrow and Jessica Chastain are clients – need we say more?!) what she wished her clients would do before their next facial in order to maximize the results. Here’s what she had to say…

How To Prep For A Facial For Better Results

Use retinol. 1 to 3 times a week, apply a retinol product at night. “Retinol Products tighten the pores, kill acne causing bacteria, softens fine lines and wrinkles, and exfoliate,” explains Vanessa. “For over the counter, I like L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Clinical Repair 10 Laser Corrector Day Treatment.”

Exfoliate the night before. Use a gentle exfoliating scrub like L’Oréal Paris Go 360° Clean Deep Exfoliating Scrub to remove any dead skin cells off the surface of your face, making it easier for blackheads or pimples to come out.

Arrive with a clean face. Yes, your facialist will cleanse your skin – thoroughly! – but if she needs to remove your makeup before even getting started you’re wasting precious time. Show up to a facial with a clean face it’ll save your esthetician time and allow for a more thorough facial.

Here’s to a more radiant complexion!
