Apple cider vinegar isn’t just for salad dressings. Thanks to its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties, you can also use it to help clear up your acne. Try one of these three tricks to get your complexion glowing again.
Tone: Dilute apple cider vinegar with water (about a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio – dilute it more if you have sensitive skin) and apply to the face using a cotton ball or pad. You can rinse this off after a few minutes or simply apply your favorite moisturizer.
Treat: Apply apple cider vinegar to a pimple using a cotton swab. Let this treatment sit overnight and wake up to a clearer face!
Drink: Believe it or not, “vinegar tea” is amazingly healing to your digestive system…and your skin. The malic acid boosts your body’s detoxification processes, keeping your skin clear and glowing. Simply add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to a glass of warm water (about 1 cup) along with honey (between 1 to 3 teaspoons, depending on how sweet you want it) and drink 1-2 times a day. You can also add the vinegar to your favorite salad dressings, disguise it in your morning smoothies or, if you’re really brave, down it straight with a green juice chaser.
What to look for: If you’re going to use apple cider vinegar in your skincare routine, it’s best to use raw, organic brands, like Braggs. These usually contain strands of culture from the fermentation process. (You can strain these out when you get to the bottom of the bottle, though they are safe to ingest.)
Troubleshooting: Make sure you do a patch test before using apple cider vinegar on your face, especially if you have sensitive skin.
