If we could only choose one step of a skincare routine, we’d probably choose a cleanser.

Thankfully, we don’t HAVE to choose, but cleansing is nevertheless an extremely important part of a skincare routine – and one you definitely can’t skip.

Regardless of your age, it’s important to pick a mild cleanser that will not only leave the skin feeling squeaky clean but also fight the signs of aging while helping to diminish wrinkles and combat further oxidative and physical damage that causes skin to age.

Ready to up your cleansing routine? Let’s get started with some of our favorite anti-aging cleansers for every skin type…

REN Clean Skincare Micro Polish Cleanser ($30) We always love a mutli-tasker. (Who doesn’t?!) This two-in-one foaming mousse cleanses while it exfoliates, leaving skin feeling pure and polished. If you’re looking to remove any dead skin left behind by a long summer  spent slathering on SPF, this is a great way to do that while still cleansing. The amber microbeads remove dead skin and increase circulation to the skin’s surface which brightens the complexion, giving you a younger look.

Hevia MD Skin Science Anti-Aging Cleanser ($39) City folk will especially appreciate this cleanser. Formulated with super antioxidant Red Mangrove extract, this cleanser targets antioxidant damage caused by the environment. With healing shea butter, moisturizing virgin coconut oil and anti-inflammatory mango butter, this cleanser can actually reverse free radical damage as it deep cleans.

Pond’s Luminous Clean Daily Exfoliating Cleanser ($5.19) Pond’s has always been one of our drugstore favorites. When your skin is overcome with dirt and leftover makeup, it never gets a chance to shine! Pond’s hypoallergenic, exfoliating formula uses soft white kaolin clay and gentle microbeads to deep clean and renew the skin to draw out impurities that get buried deep into the skin over time, restoring skin to its youthful glow.

Yes To Grapefruit Daily Facial Scrub ($9.99) There’s a reason grapefruit is touted as a beauty food! The grapefruit extract in this daily facial scrub is rich in vitamins and antioxidants that even skin tone and minimize the skin discoloration that comes with age, while the Lemon Balm extract is a natural anti-bacterial agent which eases irritation and de-stresses the face.

Elave Age Delay Daily Cleanser ($38) Dry, dull skin is a dead giveaway of age. Young skin is supple and soft and Elave’s Age Delay Daily Cleanser will leave it feeling just that. The 12% glycol acid removes dead skin cells without causing redness and prevents moisture loss by hydrating the complexion. It’s safe for all skin types ranging from dry to oily, young to old. Like all cleansers, especially those that are exfoliating, follow it with a SPF 30+ to prevent any further sun damage.

Radical Skincare Age Defying Exfoliating Pads ($95) These are great to leave in your gym bags or desk for a quick pick-me-up or before re-applying makeup. Radical Defense Pads use glycol acid, chamomile and alpha and beta hydroxy acids to moisturize, relax and exfoliate skin. The AHA and BHA multi fruit acid pads have antioxidant properties which fight free radical damage which leads to fine lines and wrinkles and increase cell turnover. Radical Skincare’s pads also have been shown to reduce crow’s feet by up to 50% in as little as 2 weeks. We like to follow it up with Radical Skincare’s Instant Revitalizing Mask ($65), which hydrates the skin and leaves it looking rejuvenated and youthful!

Origin’s Modern Friction ($38.50) Microdermabrasion has long been touted as an anti-aging miracle treatment, but coarse crystals and irritating sands sounds less than youth inducing! Origins Modern Friction, however, gives us a new take on microdermabrasion with its skin-refining rice starch which is cushioned in cream to remove dead skin cells while simultaneously replenishing moisture. While this product is strong enough to stand up to the toughest of skin, it won’t leave you with any redness. Plus, it works to diminish fine lines and pore size all while leaving behind a pleasant aroma of Bergamot and Peppermint.
