Skin Healing Fresh Apricot Honey Facial Mask From Etta + Billie Founder Alana Rivera

Some beauty products are far easier to buy than to make. Others are much more effective when they’re made at home or are too perishable to be sold in stores. We’re obsessed with the best of each.

When it comes to our favorite store bought products, there are few things we love more than sustainable, handcrafted, natural products that meet strict natural standards and utilize sustainable business practices, so it’s no wonder we’ve been swooning over Etta + Billie, a San Fransisco-based bath and body skincare line with a nod to old school apothecaries.

But, if you know us at all, you know that DIY remedies are our absolute favorite.

Even better, is when the founder of an incredible natural skincare line, like Etta + Billie’s Alana Rivera, shares with us her go-to DIY remedies – because really, what’s better than someone who creates beauty products all day giving us a sneak peak into her go-to summer DIY beauty recipe: The Fresh Apricot Honey Facial Mask

With both apricots and apricot kernel oil, this facial mask is packed with antioxidants, vitamins A, C, and E, which, as Alana explains, “help fight free radical damage to skin.” Plus, she expands, “Vitamin E is a great skin moisturizer and promotes skins natural healing process. Vitamin C helps brighten skin, keeping it looking fresh and youthful. Honey’s hydrating ability along with anti-inflammatory action is great to soothe and moisturize skin.”

In a brilliance only Mother Nature can pull off, this mask is also seasonally designed for your skin’s needs right when apricots are in season. So as summer creeps upon us and we start piling on the sun damage, load up on apricots and make this delicious facial mask.

Fresh Apricot Honey Facial Mask

1/2 fresh organic apricot, mashed or blended
1 tsp local honey (the thicker, the better)
1/4 tsp apricot kernel oil (optional)

Blend honey into mashed apricot, then mix in oil. Apply to clean, damp skin. Leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with tepid water and apply your favorite serum and moisturizer. Do this facial mask 1x a week while apricots are in season.
